Lately I’ve found myself looking at diet and fitness blogs and Instagram profiles just because it’s something I’ve always struggled with and more so now after the birth of Arlo. For me it’s not about losing weight because that’s the last thing on my mind, it’s about reaching for the right foods and making proper meals because I have literally just been snacking on pure rubbish and eating take outs and I feel awful, especially because I’m breastfeeding and I should be more conscious of what I’m putting in my body. When the lovely lady at *Dietbon approached me and asked if I’d like to try a weeks worth of diet meals delivered uk I jumped at the chance.
I’ve tried many diets in the past but for me this isn’t just about losing weight. I need to get myself back into that frame of mind and stop reaching for the quick and convenient and start putting more thoughts and effort into having a healthier lifestyle over all. I’ve done a few different healthy eating diets in the past before but then I got pregnant with Arlo and I kind of spent most of my pregnancy just eating what I wanted. I’m hoping this is the kick up the arse that I very much need, I’m really excited about food again and getting myself back in a good place with my eating habits and of course just feeling healthier all round.
What is Dietbon??
Dietbon is a French company that provide 100% natural balanced ready-made meals to the UK to help you lose weight. You receive meals for 6 days that you can choose to suit your tastes and they are delivered monthly. This means you get enough food for breakfast, main meals and snacks ,you just need to add your own fresh fruit, veg and natural yoghurt. On the 7th day you have a ‘free day’ where you prepare your own food according to their guidelines. The meals are designed to give you a calorie deficit which will mean you lose around 2lb per week.
Additionally, you get a ‘consultation’ over the phone with one of their dietary specialists, so you can ask them any questions you have. I spoke to a dietician who explained the plan, and answered all my queries about it. You also receive an 84-page guide titled ‘My Dietbon guide to success’ which is full of information and recipes and it has spaces for you to jot down notes.

How was my experience with Dietbon ready made meals??
I have to admit some of the meals were really tasty and I forgot that I was eating food to lose weight however some of the meals weren’t to my taste, but I’m glad I got what I did as they wouldn’t be meals I’d usually go for. I really loved the 2 soups as they were really filling. I really enjoyed the Chicken tikka masala with rice and quinoa, Mexican meatballs with pasta vegetables and tomato sauce and the Ravioli stuffed with goat’s cheese pesto with a tomato and tofu sauce.
Not only did these meals taste nice but they looked really great once plated up too, and I like that you can add raw veg and salads to your meals to bulk them out a bit more to curb the hunger. I also liked the fact that you can only drink water whilst doing this diet and for me it was such a great way to make sure I’m having enough water every day. I found that I didn’t feel as hungry after a couple of days into the plan. The portions were also a really good size, if you’re used to eating quite a lot on your plate you will wonder where the rest of the food is but as soon as you add veg or salad it really makes your meals bigger.
I really enjoyed the Lemon Cakes as a snack along with a small pot of natural yoghurt, they kept me going until my next meal and if I still felt hungry I had a glass or 2 of water. I did find this diet quite hard because I’m so used to eating as and when I want and not feeling restricted, however even though I was only allowed to have certain things I found it stopped me wanting to snack on rubbish between meals and help curb the appetite a little more.
Did it work for me??
Honestly, yes it did. I did lose 2.5lb that week and I’m absolutely made up with the results. I really wasn’t expecting it at all. These meals are great for someone that wants the guesswork taking out of planning meals for the week on a diet, they’re tasty, full of flavour and a great size for portion control. I like that you get to chose your own ‘free day’ so you can maybe have a meal with the family or even go out for a meal without having to worry about what you can’t have. There’s no weighing or measuring, no monitoring or tracking, and it does work. If you’re too busy for chopping and prepping, it takes the stress out of trying new things and you won’t get stuck in a rut eating the same few diet-friendly meals over and over.
Finally, if you’re the kind of person who can afford this kind of diet plan, you’re likely to be a person that goes out to eat regularly. In the Dietbon plan there is no real allowance made for that aside from your ‘free day’ when you are encouraged to eat lean meat or fish and raw vegetables. I think it’s all about making sure you get into the habit of choosing the right foods and eating more of the right foods in smaller portions, because portion control is part of eating a healthy balanced diet after all. Other diets I’ve learned about and tried have been good at helping you to make healthy choices, realising that putting this kind of thing off limits is just not realistic. For people with a certain kind of lifestyle – for example the stay at home mum with no social life – it clearly fits in a bit better, but for someone that travels regularly or works and doesn’t have access to a fridge or microwave for every meal, it probably wouldn’t work so well.
However, it clearly does work in terms of shifting the pounds, and has given me the motivation I need to get back into my weight loss mindset. I don’t think I’d be able to stick to the Dietbon plan longer than a couple of weeks as I would just find it too limiting in terms of grabbing things on the go. I lost more weight doing this for a week than I would say, on a week of SW, but I also found it a lot harder to do. If you stick to a Dietbon ready meal service program, you will definitely lose weight. How easy it is to stick to will vary from person to person. Having kids and other adults in the house with more food around makes it a lot harder; if you are living on you own and the Dietbon meal service replaces your food shop, it would be a lot easier! The meals themselves are tasty, and there is a great variety of choice which you are able to pick from depending on what you like. In terms of ease, there is nothing for you to do except pop it in a microwave for two minutes.
Before a holiday, event or wedding, Dietbon could be just the thing you need to give you a big kickstart and motivate you. I did this to give me some real motivation to not only start to lose the baby weight but to prep me for our family holiday in May and I’m so excited to keep going and continue to make the right choices. Thank you Dietbon!
