I was first introduced to *WAKEcup last year when I took part in their 1 Day No Single Use Plastic Challenge so when they reached out to me again and asked if I’d like to try out their Copper Water Bottle, I jumped at the chance because I’d heard so many fantastic things about them and how great they are for your health.

Who Are Wakecup??

Run by two friends, Buffie and Nick, WAKEcup was born after a get together they had where they were reminiscing about the good old days and generally putting the world to rights. They got onto the subject of David Attenborough’s series Blue Planet II and decided that they both wanted to do something about the serious overuse problem of single-use plastics. They believe that small changes to our daily routine when multiplied across the globe can make a huge difference to our shared Oceans.

As you know, I’m really passionate about being more eco friendly and choosing to use more sustainable products. The great thing about WAKEcup is that they have so many different products you can buy such as: Reusable water bottles, reusable coffee cups, glass tea infusers, bamboo straws, bags, wallets, zero waste kits and lots more.

Why choose a copper water bottle??

Drinking water from pure copper bottles has long been associated with good health and promoting well being. It can help to reduce inflammation, improve digestion and boost your immune system. Copper can also remove bacteria from drinking water due to its antimicrobial properties. How amazing is that! This handmade, Pure Copper 600ml Reusable Water Bottle has an airtight, no leak, copper screw top to prevent accidental spills. It’s extremely lightweight and perfect for long days out, music festivals and hiking treks, when you don’t know when you’ll be able to fill up next.

How to clean your copper water bottle

Use lemon juice to clean the outside of a copper bottle. For the inside, squeeze half a lemon into the bottle, add 1 tablespoon of salt, 1/2 a cup of water, close the lid and shake thoroughly! Pour this mixture out and rinse the bottle with water. It’s also really important that you look after your copper water bottle and clean it well. However please don’t use it for hot drinks or place it in the dishwasher.

My Review

I have to say I really enjoy using this bottle and I’ll admit I thought that the copper would make my water taste a little bit funny but it doesn’t at all in fact my water tasted really fresh and good. The bottle is really light, so perfect for packing in your bag and using on the go. they’re leak proof because of the airtight seal so no worrying it will make the contents of your bag wet. How pretty does it look?? I really like the health benefits from it too, I mean anything to help boost my immune system, to help improve my digestive system and of course to help reduce any inflammation, after all I’m not getting any younger and we really need to take care of our bodies inside and out. I find it really easy to clean and look after and to make your water taste even better fill it up at night and pop it into the fridge overnight. It will stay cold all day which is a bonus for me because who likes the taste of warm water after being out for a few hours? It’s such a great bottle to have and even though it’s priced at £24, which I think is a fantastic price for this product it will last you years. I’ve seen stainless steel bottles cost £30, this is definitely worth the investment. When you purchase a plastic free bottle like this will see 10% of profits go to The Marine Conservation Society who work tirelessly to reduce the amount of plastic pollution in our oceans.
